PROVIDING EXCELLENCE IN BOWEL CARE

Everyone deserves the best treatment and support for bowel conditions

Testimonials

I can only say, if all operations were performed this way life would be much easier. I was out of hospital in 4 days, not bad for quite a major operation! I had no pain, needed no painkillers, although the hospital insisted I had them!

All the time I was in hospital Mr Radley was in constant touch, checking on my progress. I am very grateful for all his support and kind attention. He can be very highly recommended.

I know that on each occasion we have met I have thanked you for what you have done but you will never know quite how you and your team including Helen your PA have changed my life, thank you all so much. It must be immensely satisfying to know all of your hard work and professionalism can make that much of a difference to people.

Phil Leech– Patient– 2005-2007

Their support team of specialists and nurses all reinforced my positive feelings and I feel they have taken an interest in me as a person that goes beyond purely the treatment of a medical problem, and I appreciate it. If you need treatment, I recommend this team without reservation.

Malcolm Bird OBE– Patient– January 2007

Recently I have been to the Priory Hospital and had a left hemicolectomy and ileostomy formation and a successful closure of the ileostomy. I have recovered well, in no little way to the excellent care I had at the hospital.

When I was referred with advanced bowel cancer I was very concerned for my future. The surgeon, however, was so positive and filled me such optimism that with major surgery and chemotherapy I have had five years of good health. Regular CT scans and colonoscopy have given me a clean bill of health. I cannot thank him enough for his care, his motivation and his expertise in giving me a new lease of life.

Oliver Haslam– Patient– September 2007

I was almost 86, at the 'wrong' end of a colonoscope after which my surgeon showed me a colour photograph of a tumour! He recommended that I should undergo a bowel resection. I have great confidence in his competence, his very sensible approach in explaining my problems and his advice during subsequent and ongoing check ups. I would strongly recommend anyone with bowel cancer to place themselves in the hands of this team.

Roger Aitken– Patient– October 2007

In August 2005 I was diagnosed as having bowel cancer. I was very worried about the surgery, I wondered if I would be left with a bag, fortunately for me and the skills of Mr Ismail that did not happened. During the operation Mr Ismail found that the cancer had spread to my liver. I spent 10 days in hospital, during which time I received excellent care. Because the cancer had spread to my liver I was referredto Dr Ian Geh, Oncologist, who arranged for me to have a PET scan. The scan showed four more tumours on my liver, my partner and my children were with me when I was told without any treatment I had a life expectancy of 6-9 months and with treatment possible 12-18 months. I was given less than 5% chance of recovery. I responded well and towards the end of my chemo Dr Geh talked to me about the possibility of having an operation on my liver. The procedure would be to remove the right side of my liver completely. The operation was a complete success. It was like winning the lottery I could not believe it and they say miracles don't happen. Well to me Mr Ismail, Dr Geh and the liver surgeon each played a part in making a miracle happen.

Having an operation to deal with bowel cancer is not something one looks forward to, but I can honestly say that the whole surgical procedure was carried out with the maximum of skill and efficiency and the minimum of discomfort. The professionalism of all concerned is to be greatly admired.

Norman Selwyn– Patient– November 2007

Laparoscopic anterior resection and laparoscopic and vaginal hysterectomy My family and friends cannot believe the recovery I am making over such a short period of time and this is due to the fact that I had keyhole surgery. If I had 'open surgery' initial recovery and mobility would have taken much longer with a greater risk of infection. The operation consisted of four tiny incisions with a longer incision (aprox 6-7cm long) in my groin area which had stitches, this was where my section of bowel had been removed. I had my operation just over a week ago now and following the operation, although there was a little discomfort, over the next 3 days I was able to get out of bed, shower and go to the toilet unaided and in addition my appetite returned and I was able to eat a soft diet. My bowel movements are gradually returning to normal with very little pain and to my surprise, I have had no weight loss either. It is unbelievable to think I have undergone two major operations through keyhole surgery at the same time I would definitely recommend this method of surgery to anyone who has got to face major bowel surgery.
