My operation to remove my haemorrhoids has been 100% successful.
I had been suffering from haemorrhoids/ piles for a couple of years. They were intermittent but when an episode did occur, occasionally so did some bleeding, and it did become very worrying, as well as quite embarrassing.
Initially I spoke to my GP about the problem who recommended Mr Tariq Ismail as being an expert in bowel conditions. I also found Mr Ismail’s name on my health insurer’s website and also researched him to find out more on the Birmingham Bowel Clinic website.
When I met with Mr Ismail at my first outpatient appointment he was very understanding towards me and reassured me that this was a very common ailment, which was a great help in reducing the embarrassment factor due to piles being quite a taboo subject.
I underwent the HALO procedure (Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation) on a Saturday, and I was back at work as normal 72 hours later by the Tuesday. This is why I opted for this procedure as it is less invasive than conventional operations to remove piles. As the Operations and Safety Director for British Gas, it was essential that I was able to return to work, be able to drive and be back to normal within a few days.
I was in hospital as a day case patient, and on the morning of the operation I appreciated all of the staff involved in my care making me feel very comfortable and relaxed. I met with Mr Ismail again and again he was very reassuring.
I would absolutely and wholeheartedly recommend the HALO procedure, Mr Tariq Ismail and the Birmingham Bowel Clinic to others- and have already done do. I would also recommend Mr Ismail for his expertise and care for people suffering with all aspects of bowel conditions.
