I cannot speak too highly of Mr Ismail. He told me that I had cancer of the bowel, then drew an easy to understand diagram showing the growth was doing in and to my gut. He explained his keyhole surgery plan to get it out and that it was a normal precaution to take out a couple of lymph nodes as well.
I had the op on a Wednesday afternoon and came to in I.C.U- the staff were brilliant, my stomach felt bloated but I had no pain. Back in my room on Thursday midday, I was up walking about on Friday. When I asked Mr Ismail how it had gone he said “I did what I said I would do”.
This I took to be a good sign. I was let out to the care of friends on Bank Holiday Monday, my bowels “normalised” on Wednesday (hurrah!).
If you are diagnosed with cancer of the bowel and are lucky enough to have Mr Ismail as your consultant, let him put your plumbing right- quickly. The dreaded “C” can be dealt with.
