For a long time I had been suffering with haemorrhoids. In the last few months they had become progressively worse, causing me to have painful bowel movements, inflammation and they had prolapsed.
I knew there were operations available to treat haemorrhoids, but I didn’t want to have to undergo a big operation which I knew inevitably would also be very painful.
I wanted treatment to fit in with my busy lifestyle- I wanted less pain and more convenience!
Having private medical insurance with BUPA, I read an article in their member’s magazine about a relatively new procedure called HALO (Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation) which seemed to offer the solution I had been hoping for- minimally invasive and a quicker recovery time.

I contacted the Birmingham Bowel Clinic and met with Mr Simon Radley who during my consultation suggested this would be the right operation for me. He talked me through all aspects of the procedure and was very pleasant- which was much appreciated as haemorrhoids are quite a personal and embarrassing problem.

I’m delighted with the final result. On the day of my operation Mr Radley was very reassuring and made me feel very comfortable and at ease.  Although it was planned for me to be a daycase patient, as I had some bleeding after the operation I had an overnight stay in hospital which I actually really appreciated and made me feel well-cared for and reassured. I had no pain after the operation and just took painkillers as a precaution.
I had a rapid recovery and am now haemorrhoid free. Overall I am very satisfied with Mr Radley and his team at the Birmingham Bowel Clinic and would highly recommend the clinic to anyone suffering with haemorrhoids or bowel problems.
