Dear Mr Ismail
I would like to thank you Mr Ismail and all of your team for looking after me before, during and after my recent HALO procedure.
In all honesty I had a few reservations before coming to see you but as it turned out they proved to be totally unwarranted.
As you know I had been suffering not so much from pain but from discomfort and regular bleeding from my piles, to the extent that after almost every bowel movement or minimal exercise I had some bleeding. This caused me much inconvenience, unpleasantness and on more than one occasion major embarrassment. It is also true to say that every day my entire lifestyle was affected by this problem regardless of a bleed or not.

On making the decision to come to you I was very impressed how at ease you made me feel and your knowledge and understanding of my problem. I don’t know why but when you suffer from such a personal thing you think you must be the only person who suffers in that particular way! After you examined me you explained in detail the HALO procedure and the timescale for recovery and I agreed to your advised treatment.
In short, I wish I had come to see you months earlier.

The operation took place on a Saturday afternoon and I believe I was back in my room approximately two hours after arriving in theatre. There was some discomfort but nothing of great concern. I remember you then came to see me and informed me that you were happy with the way things had gone but it had taken a little longer than originally thought due to the large size of the piles. You then advised me that as soon as I could pass water I would be able to get off home, within the next hour I was sat up in bed, sipping a cup of tea and eating a late lunch!

Alas I was unable to leave until the Sunday as I couldn’t pass water until the early hours of the morning which I understand is not common due to the anaesthetic, but again this was not a problem and I was made very comfortable by all the staff and enjoyed a decent night’s sleep.
After arriving home I took the prescribed painkillers as advised and rested well only experiencing slight discomfort but no real pain. Later that evening I did suffer some pain but again only after bowel movements (unfortunately for me though I did have several throughout the day).

I returned to work Tuesday and can report that the discomfort became less and less and all was well, but what really impressed me was that on the Thursday I played 27 holes of golf in a pre arranged event that I thought I might have to cancel prior to the operation.

The outcome has been fantastic and far beyond my expectations, no blood since leaving the theatre and no discomfort since day three post op, it’s amazing what you can put up with, get used to and take for granted as being normal, I had forgotten how simple life could be especially when using the bathroom!

Again I must commend you Mr Ismail for the duty of care provided to me by you and your staff and the dignified way I was treated throughout the whole procedure, it’s very easy to ignore the fact that this can be a very embarrassing problem for someone but I can honestly say that I had no such concerns during the time I was in your care. The professionalism shown by yourself and your team is to be congratulated upon and I would gladly recommend anyone suffering from similar problems to contact you without delay.
Please feel free to use any part of this letter as a testimonial to your good work because if anyone else has suffered as I did and can benefit from the HALO procedure as I have, I am only too pleased to pass on my thoughts and share in this success story.

The whole experience was remarkable from my initial consultation with Mr Radley who explained everything to me, through to the day of the operation itself ”
