My family and friends cannot believe the recovery I am making over such a short period of time and this is due to the fact that I had keyhole surgery by Mr Ismail. If I had 'open surgery' initial recovery and mobility would have taken much longer with a greater risk of infection. The operation consisted of four tiny incisions with a longer incision (aprox 6-7cm long) in my groin area which had stitches, this was where my section of bowel had been removed. I had my operation just over a week ago now and following the operation, although there was a little discomfort, over the next 3 days I was able to get out of bed, shower and go to the toilet unaided and in addition my appetite returned and I was able to eat a soft diet. My bowel movements are gradually returning to normal with very little pain and to my surprise, I have had no weight loss either. It is unbelievable to think I have undergone two major operations through keyhole surgery at the same time I would definitely recommend this method of surgery to anyone who has got to face major bowel surgery.
