Mrs Jane Jenner

I was diagnosed with having bowel cancer which had also spread to my liver at the end of January this year.

Exactly a week later I underwent surgery by Mr Simon Radley, having a laparoscopic formation of bowel ileotomy procedure to treat the bowel cancer.
Being in my mid- forties, with no previous family history of bowel cancer, and my main symptom being abdominal pain, the diagnosis did come as a shock as I had spent several months leading up to my diagnosis thinking I was suffering from Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

At the time of my diagnosis I was pleased with the quality of advise I was given by the clinic and the quick and professional manner in which my surgery and treatment was arranged.
The care that I have received by Mr Radley and his team at the Birmingham Bowel Clinic has been exemplary, especially Mandy Smart the colorectal nurse specialist and Dr Ian Geh my consultant oncologist, both of whom I am still in contact with on a regular basis. Having such regular contact with the dedicated stoma nurses has made things easier to deal with.

It is now two months after my surgery and I am feeling quite well and remain under the care of the Birmingham Bowel Clinic, and am halfway through my course of Chemotherapy. I would definitely recommend the clinic to those who are seeking bowel treatment.

Most particularly I would like to thank you for your skill and attention to detail. Matthew was very ill and I know the surgery was not easy, thank you. ”
