West Midlands Bowel Cancer figures released

This week the West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit released it's bowel cancer figures for our local area ahead of "Be Loud Be Clear" national campaign starting on 30th January 2012.
This user friendly analysis of bowel cancer in the West Midlands, shows the incidence, survival and prevalence from the most recent data available.
Overall the figures do show how the disease affects men more than women, yet the survival rate in the last 8 years is starting to improve. Such improvements in the mortality rate from this disease highlights the importance in supporting relevant charities who constantly strive to make new advances in treating bowel cancer, such as Beating Bowel Cancer, Cancer Research and the B bowel Disease Research Foundation.

In the near future the West Midlands Cancer Intelligence Unit will be releasing additional data so the West Midlands can compare its bowel cancer rates across other areas of the UK. We will post this useful information on the Birmingham Bowel Clinic website when it becomes available.

I would like to thank you Mr Ismail and all of your team for looking after me before, during and after my recent HALO procedure. In short, I wish I had come to see you months earlier. ”
